Three faculty members from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy were recognized on the Clarivate Analytics list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2018. The Clarivate list recognizes world-class researchers selected for their exceptional research performance, demonstrated by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science.
Alexander Kabanov, Ph.D., Dr.Sci., who joined the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2012, was recognized for his influence in the area of Pharmacology & Toxicology. He has conducted pioneering research in the nanomedicine field, co-inventing the first polymeric micelle drug to enter clinical trials to treat cancer. Kabanov holds 34 United States patents and over 50 foreign patents. He co-founded several companies focusing on therapies of cancers and diseases of the central nervous system.
