Yuhang Jiang, Ph.D., a graduate of the Pharmaceutical Sciences program at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, received the prestigious Horizon Award for his research in preventing brain injury to stroke patients. To briefly summarize, Dr. Jiang’s team created a biodegradable solution he entitled, a cage, which circulates SOD1 within the blood stream.

Alexander Kabnaov, Ph.D., Dr.Sci. dissertation adviser to Dr. Jiang, commented on this momentous career changing event:

“The advance of pharmaceutical science and translational medicine needs more talented and hard-working young scientists like Yuhang. He has a passionate dedication to providing an affordable medical solution for reperfusion injury in North Carolina stroke patients.”
